Today, Tuesday June 9, 2026, Inter-Primary School Cricket defending champions South Rivers Methodist School, welcome the Biabou Methodist School into their backyard, the South Rivers Playing Field, in one of two semi-finals being played to determine who the finalists on Thursday will be. The atmosphere is expected to be electric as home support is, and has always been a major factor when the school takes on visiting teams at the ground.
In the other semi-final, the Georgetown Government School will battle the Owia Government School at the London Playing Field, as all four teams in today’s semi-final matches seek to make it to Thursday’s final at a venue to be announced.
The rules of the tournament mandates that 5 runs are subtracted for every wicket lost, each team starts their inning with 100 runs. They must bat out the full 20 overs to determine how many runs are scored, and how many runs are to be subtracted against the number of wickets lost.
South Rivers kept their hopes of a successful defense of their title alive when they defeated the Canouan Government School by 93 runs in one of four quarter-final matches played last Friday afternoon, June 5, 2026 at various venues. At the Stubbs Playing Field, Canouan batted first and lost 18 wickets in their 20 overs, leaving the South Rivers team a target of 100. Summar Chance was the pick of the bowlers for South Rivers Methodist, taking 5 for 8 in 3 overs. In response, South Rivers Methodist got to 193 for 5 in 20 overs, with Luke Taylor taking 2 for 24.
Owia Government School, led by their talisman Amallie Lavia who stroked 38 not out in their 238 for 4, handed the Fitz Hughes Government an 80 run defeat in quarter-final two; Rolando Lett taking 2 for 30. Fitz Hughes Government replied with 158 for 9 in 20 overs, J’Shawn Henry picking up 3 for 7 from 3 overs for Owia Government.
On Friday morning at the Stubbs Playing Field in quarter-final three, Georgetown Government toppled Dorsetshire Hill Government by 71 runs. Georgetown Government scored 236 for 7 in 20 overs. They were led by Zarano Lewis who scored 20. Jamal St. Rose’s 3 for 34 were the best figures with the ball for Dorsetshire Hill Government, who were restricted to 165 for 5 off 20 overs in reply. Amando De Shong took 2 for 17.
It was undiluted excitement at the Sion Hill Playing Field, as Biabou Methodist prevailed over Sion Hill Government by one run in quarter-final four. Biabou Methodist got to 212 for 6 in 20 overs. Dominic Durrant took 2 for 10.
Sion Hill Government responded with 211 for 6 in 20 overs. Sameaus Clarke scored 13. Ayekira Jacobs snared 4 for 26 to secure the win for Biabou Methodist, and a spot in today’s semi-final.
Defending champions South Rivers Methodist, Owia Government, Georgetown Government, and Biabou Methodist are the Semi-finalists in the 2026 SVG Inter-Primary Schools’ Developmental Cricket Competition.
