What is the number of votes that separates Keiko Fujimori and Roberto Sánchez, according to the latest ONPE results of the second round of the Peru 2026 Elections?

The second round of the General Elections Peru 2026among the candidates Keiko Fujimori (Popular Force) and Roberto Sanchez (Together for Peru), was held on Sunday, June 7 at the national level and in some countries on different continents. The authorities of the National Election Jury (JNE) and the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) reported on the date that the process was carried out normally, and that the incidents that were recorded during the day were corrected and are already being investigated by the authorities of the Public Ministry.

After the closing of the polling stations at 5 pm on Sunday the 7th, and after knowing the first unofficial results at the exit polls, Peruvians focused their expectations on knowing the official results of the ONPE. To do this, the electoral body enabled an official page so that citizens can consult the results of the runoff in real time.

This 06/09/2026, in the update at 17:32 to 96.27% of recorded minutes, Roberto Sanchez surpasses Keiko Fujimori by 42,115 votes. Together for Peru registers 8,943,652 valid votes, while Popular Force reaches 8,901,537 valid votes. Of the total minutes, 96.27% have been accounted for and 97.95% processed by the ONPEwhile the remaining 2.05% is pending.

The difference between the votes obtained by both candidates is short and it is expected that the ONPE announce the final results at 100% when all the minutes have been validated by the electoral authorities.

After 11 am on Monday, June 8, the first results from abroad were announced, so the official figures could vary in the coming hours. In accordance with current electoral regulations, the winner of the second round (that is, whoever is elected president) will be the candidate who obtains the greatest number of valid votes, regardless of the number of votes difference.

Grecia Renteria, spokesperson for the JNEindicated in a press conference that the proclamation of the results of the presidential second round It will be held in mid-July, once the resolution processes for the observed minutes and the eventual vote recount hearings are concluded.

The official explained that the minutes observed will initially be transferred from the decentralized offices of electoral processes (ODPE) towards the special electoral juries (JEE) of each jurisdiction, where the corresponding comparison will be carried out.

If the observations cannot be resolved at this stage, the votes will be recounted through public hearings. “In mid-July is the proclamation of the second round“, he expressed.
