A man who Spanish media say is a Serbian citizen was killed in a shooting that took place in Barcelona, and the police are intensively searching for the attacker who fled the scene of the crime.
According to information reported by the local media, the shooting took place on Sunday evening at around 9 pm in the Zona Franka neighborhood, in the inner courtyard of a block of flats in Mineria Street.
The attacker shot the victim in the back
The portal ElCaso.cat states that the attacker, dressed in black, fired several shots into the back of a man who was in the courtyard of the building.
Although the citizens present immediately tried to help the wounded man, and medical teams and members of the Catalan police Mosos d’Esquadra soon arrived at the scene, the doctors could only declare death.
After the shooting, the police blocked off a wider area of the settlement, but the suspect has not yet been found.

The police are investigating the motive for the murder
Catalan police have confirmed that they are investigating the man’s violent death, but have not yet released more details about the possible motive for the crime.
According to the Metropoli Abierta portal, the identity of the murdered man has not yet been officially confirmed, but police sources state that he could be a citizen of Serbia.
Investigators are currently collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage to determine the circumstances of the attack.
Second fatal shooting in the same neighborhood in less than a month
This is the second case of fatal shooting in Mineria Street in less than a month, reports Tanjug.
As a reminder, on May 16, in the same street, not far from the place of the last murder, another man lost his life after he was opened fire. Even then, the attacker was not immediately found.
Due to the increasing number of incidents involving firearms, the residents of Zona Franke have been expressing concern for the safety in that part of the city in recent weeks. Last week, they also held protests demanding urgent measures to improve security from the city authorities.
Suspicions of clashes between criminal groups
Local media report that some residents increasingly associate such incidents with conflicts between criminal and drug gangs operating in the Barcelona area.
Although the police have not yet confirmed such allegations, the fact that several armed attacks took place in the same settlement in a short period of time further increased the citizens’ concerns.
The investigation into the murder is ongoing, and the police continue to search for the attacker.
