Singer Arsen Mirzoyan in a new interview, he talked about his volunteering experience, how he changed during the war and how much money he and his wife, an artist, received Tony Matvienko it is possible to contribute to the needs of the military.
In the conversation in the “My Story” project, the celebrity commented the fact that over the years of full-scale invasion it is increasingly called brutal, because it is a style Mirzoyanand now he is quite different from the romantic image he had before.
“I don’t think I’ve become more brutal. It’s just that in 2022, a lot of artists didn’t know how to proceed. People needed answers from those they listen to and trust. A public person should have addressed their audience and said honestly how they see the situation… First of all (here) responsibility of a public person,” he answered.
Arsen’s style has changed significantly in recent years
Arsen believes that a public figure must comment on his civic position:
“I think it’s a position in general. And not only a civil one, but a person’s position in general.”
Arsen continues to give the money earned at the concerts to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Sometimes, instead of a performance fee, he offers a specific request. In general, he and his wife manage to collect close million hryvnias every month for the military.
“If we talk about public concerts – yes (gives earned funds). Even during private speeches, we often translate the conversation into a practical plane. I do not mention the fee. I say: “I need a pickup.” And that’s the end of the deal.
If we talk about our family – Tonia Matvienko and me – this is approximately one million hryvnias every month. We accumulate these funds and direct them to the needs of the military. I wonder how it can be maintained at such a level. But for me, this is a testimony of people’s trust. It is trust that gives strength not to stop,” he commented Mirzoyan
The performer actively supports the military with his singing
As for mobilization, the artist explained that even if he were to join the army, he would still be engaged in singing, supporting the soldiers with music:
“In the army, everyone should be as efficient as possible in their area. I understand that if I got into a specific unit, I would most likely be doing the same thing that I am doing now. But within the limits of one unit. Instead, today I have the opportunity to help many brigades, visit positions and support the guys. A musician directly at the positions – this is quite a rare phenomenon.”
The singer answered whether he communicates with his father, who lives in the Russian Federation:
“No. At the beginning of the war, it became clear that many people who were not involved simply did not realize what was happening. And I decided: if a person does not understand what it is about, then we have nothing to talk about.”
Arsen commented that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he did not want to be called a singer at all, but associated himself only with volunteering.
“I guess I found a golden mean for myself. Everything I do now is connected to one thing – not to give up and move forward,” he explained.
The celebrity admitted whether he had a desire to give up:
“Rather, there was only the thought that such a thing could happen. But there were always people nearby who did not allow it to happen: my wife, daughter, friends, acquaintances – everyone who supported and supports me.”
