He FBI has issued a warning to the public after detecting fake websites impersonating the FIFAto steal the identity of fans, as well as carry out scams with supposed tickets for the World Cup 2026.
The US investigative agency said in the announcement that it has detected fraudulent websites designed to imitate the official FIFA website (www.fifa.com) in order to steal personal information, sell fake World Cup tickets and tour packages, among other scams.
The FBI indicated that fake websites slightly alter features by introducing small spelling changes or different web extensions to trick users into believing they are visiting an official FIFA website.
Examples identified by the FBI include the websites: fifa.cab, fifa.pink, fifa.city, fifa.org, fifa-online.com, fifa.cam, fifa-hiring.com, fifahiring.com, fifa-ticket.live, fifa.help, worldcup26ticket.com, among others.
Fake websites with extensions were also detected in countries such as Mexico: worldcup2026-tickets.com.mx
The FBI anticipates that additional new fake domains will be created in the run-up to and during the World Cup.
The agency issued recommendations for fans such as directly typing fifa.com into the address bar at the top of their Internet browser, instead of using a search engine.
If using a search engine, you should avoid entering any “sponsored” results, as these could be paid imitators looking to divert traffic from the legitimate FIFA website.
Canada, the United States and Mexico are the co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, which starts on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, and concludes on July 19 with the trophy match at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
