The number of confirmed cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 452
Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced today that the number of confirmed cases of infection with the Ebola virus has risen to 452, after confirming the emergence of 71 new cases during the past twenty-four hours.
Regarding deaths, government data showed that confirmed cases reached 82 deaths.
Earlier today, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, announced a six-month plan worth $518 million to combat the Ebola virus, expressing optimism about the possibility of containing the outbreak.
He said that containing the Ebola virus requires political commitment, sustainable financing, and confidence in engaging local communities.
On May 15, the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced the outbreak of the seventeenth wave of the Ebola virus in the country, while the World Health Organization issued an international health alert regarding the situation.
