Summarizing the course of the campaign a few days before the June 7 NA elections, Gevorg Karapetyan, number one on the electoral list of the “National Democratic Pole” pan-Armenian party, said in the “Debate” club. “The campaign is going on in uneven conditions, very bad, because first, some forces were campaigning ahead of time, before announcing the start of the campaign, calling it intra-party tours. But it was clear that they are not intra-party, but direct contacts and attempts to get votes from the people in the elections through PR actions.
Until the start of the campaign, the media blockade against us did not stop and as a result of incomplete coverage or lack of coverage, we remain misunderstood by the broad masses of the people. But with the few resources we have, we tried to start our campaign more aggressively starting from May 8. We started from Mother See Holy Etchmiadzin, returned to the National Assembly with a press conference, then marched to Matenadaran. All this is symbolic and related to our slogan. “Faith, Fatherland, Sovereignty”.
Then, continuing, Gevorg Karapetyan reminded that on their way to Syunik, the police arrested their “Pickup” car for an absurd reason, thereby delaying them for at least one day from the planned campaign schedule. “The campaign went on creating artificial complications for our forces,” assured the speaker.
Gevorg Karapetyan said that perhaps for the first time during the campaign, the public is directed not to get acquainted with the program of this or that political force, to accept or not to accept it, but simply to make a choice between pro-Russian and pro-Western. “It is from the same past-present logic field. And that is the most fertile ground so that alternatives are not formed in the Republic of Armenia. The policy pursued by this government is not taking Armenia to the West, but there is a country in the West called Turkey. It leads to Turkification and a state subordinate to Azerbaijan. We do not see any real steps towards the West. And the steps shown during eight years are decorative, imitation steps.
I have always said in my speech that the imitation of democracy is worse than the absence of democracy, taking a foreign policy direction in a certain direction is better than its imitation. This government, as a government easily controlled from outside, has turned into a balloon. From which side the wind blows stronger, it moves in that direction.
As a result of this policy, Armenia is not going to Europe, and we will take action against it.”
