    A workshop in Irbid to enhance awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities

    Today, Thursday, the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in cooperation with the King Abdullah II Institute for Preparing, Qualifying and Training Preachers, and the Second Irbid Endowments Directorate, organized a workshop entitled “Awareness of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” in the hall of Al-Mukhtar Mosque, with the participation of a number of imams, preachers and workers in the Directorate.

    The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities and introduce relevant national legislation, in addition to establishing a culture of inclusion and empowerment and enhancing their effective participation in various aspects of life.

    The representative of the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Osama Al-Ajarma, presented the most prominent rights guaranteed by law to persons with disabilities, stressing the importance of providing a supportive environment that guarantees them opportunities for full and equal participation in society, and enhances their integration in various fields.

    For her part, during a training session, Trainer Taqwa discussed modern disability concepts and the foundations of proper dealing with people with disabilities, stressing the importance of promoting the concepts of access, inclusion, and respect for human diversity in a way that contributes to building a more inclusive and equitable society.

    In turn, the Director of the Second Irbid Endowments, Sheikh Firas Abu Khait, stressed that caring for the rights of persons with disabilities represents a legal and national duty, indicating that Islam gives this group special attention, calling for enhancing community awareness of their rights and supporting their active participation in various fields.

    He pointed out the keenness of the Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places to enhance cooperation with specialized national institutions, in a way that contributes to spreading a positive culture towards people with disabilities, and activating the role of imams and preachers in raising awareness of their rights and society’s duty towards them.

    The participants stressed the importance of continuing awareness and training programs that contribute to enhancing the culture of the rights of persons with disabilities and supporting national efforts aimed at empowering them and protecting their rights, in line with the principles of justice, equal opportunities, and building a more inclusive society for all.
