The US House of Representatives has approved a bill to provide aid to Ukraine and impose sanctions on Russia, with several Republicans once again defying the official party line and voting in favor of the bill.
18 Republican congressmen joined forces with Democratssupporting the “Ukraine Support Act” yesterday, Thursday, which was passed by 226 votes in favor and 195 against.
This is the most recent one case of “mutiny” of Republicans against President Donald Trump.
The Ukraine Support Act would provide more than $1 billion in security and reconstruction assistance, while providing $8 billion in loans to finance Ukraine’s defense operations.
However, it is unlikely that the bill will become law, as it will first have to pass the Senate and then be signed by Trump.
Just 24 hours earlier, in a largely symbolic vote, a small group of Republicans in the House of Representatives passed a resolution aimed at preventing Trump from taking further military action in Iran.
“Who would do something so unpatriotic? They know where the negotiations are,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
