The Director of the Northern Jordan Valley District Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Muhammad Al-Naim, confirmed that the wheat harvest season for the current year is witnessing a noticeable improvement and better production and supply indicators compared to the last season, driven by a clear increase in the volume of production and high demand by farmers.

Al-Naim explained that the total areas planted with wheat in the district this year amounted to about 12 thousand dunums, indicating that harvesting operations are proceeding with great activity, reflecting the quality of the current season and the concerted efforts to serve the agricultural sector.

In a numerical comparison that highlights the superiority of the current season, Engineer Al-Naim revealed that the Directorate has so far issued 67 certificates of origin for the wheat crop, which is a big jump compared to the entire previous year, in which the number of certificates of origin stopped at only 31 certificates, stressing that this noticeable increase in the certificates granted to farmers directly reflects the increase in the volume of actual production and the increase in the quantities supplied and officially documented by the Directorate.

Regarding the estimated productivity rates per dunum, Al-Naim stated that estimates vary based on irrigation type and geographical location. The production of one dunum in lands dependent on irrigation (irrigated) is estimated at about 450 kilograms as a result of the stability of the water supply, while the productivity of areas cultivated in rainfed areas is subject to the nature of the agricultural basin and the amount of rain that fell on it during the season, stressing that continuous follow-up with farmers contributed to the success of the season and supporting food security in the region.
