The date for the draw for the final tournament of the Asian Cup with the participation of the Tajikistan national team has been determined. It will take place on May 9 in Riyadh.
At the moment, 23 participants out of 24 are known. Due to events in the Middle East, the Lebanon-Yemen match was postponed to June 4. The draw was originally planned for April 11-12.
Thus, the Tajikistan team will find out the names of their opponents in the final part of the 2027 Asian Cup during the draw in Saudi Arabia.
Tajikistan will take part in the final stage of the Asian Cup for the second time in its history.
24 teams will play in the tournament. When drawing lots, our team will be seeded in the third pot and will not meet the teams of Bahrain, Thailand, China, Palestine and Vietnam in the group stage.
Based on the results of the draw, 24 teams will be divided into six groups of four participants. The two best teams from each group, as well as the four best teams that took third place, will advance to the 1/8 finals. The 19th edition of the Asian Cup will be held from January 7 to February 5, 2027 in Saudi Arabia.

It should be noted that in previous years, the AFC used a hybrid seeding method, combining the FIFA ranking and the results of performance in the qualifying tournament, when the teams that participated in the final round of qualifying for the World Cup received an advantage.
This time the seeding was based solely on the FIFA rankings, and therefore three teams from the final qualifying round of the World Cup (Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia and Kuwait) ended up in the fourth pot, and the winner of the last two Asian Cups, Qatar, in the second.
