The Qatar Olympic Committee announced the appointment of Mrs. Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari as CEO of the bidding committee to host the Doha 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in a move that reflects the Qatari ambition to host the first Olympic and Paralympic Games in the Middle East.
This appointment comes as part of efforts to prepare an integrated file based on the State of Qatar’s record in hosting major international sporting events, and reflects its commitment to using sport as a platform for development, rapprochement between peoples, and the promotion of dialogue and cultural understanding.
Ms. Fatima Al Kuwari has more than twenty years of executive experience and holds a senior leadership position at Oreed International Communications Company, where she has a proven track record in the areas of strategy, operations and organizational transformation across the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.
She also held a number of leadership positions within the group’s Executive Committee, supervised operations in nine markets, and contributed to the establishment of the I Want Doha Marathon in 2013.
Al Kuwari is scheduled to lead the strategic, operational and organizational aspects of the file, and coordinate with various local and international partners to support the preparation of an integrated competitive file that reflects the development of the sports infrastructure in the State of Qatar and its long-term vision.
This appointment comes within the framework of the State of Qatar’s ambition to present an exceptional Olympic and Paralympic edition, which reflects the country’s stature and the region’s ability to host the largest global events, and to use sport as a platform for development, rapprochement, and creating a sustainable human legacy.
