First, second, third, fourth until blocking, and instead of fifth gear, third!
That’s exactly what the driver of a manual transmission BMW M2 Competition did on the German Autobahn.
At a speed of 150 km/h, instead of shifting into fifth gear, he shifted back into third gear.
On the recording, a strong engine load can be heard, and after that a warning message appeared on the infotainment system screen: “Engine failure, drive moderately, maximum power is not available. Contact the service center!”
The person who posted the video on YouTube states that in the end the entire engine (3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo) was replaced, and that the owner could not count on the warranty, reports Report.
BMW estimated that the breakdown was caused by driver error.
In the end, at least, he was left with a “consolation prize”, a video on YouTube.
