According to the results of the 2nd round of university admissions in the republic, 16 thousand 482 applicants were registered. As a result, the Evaluation and Testing Center will conduct 21 thousand 130 applicant-examinations.
“Armenpress”–at the press conference held in the press hall, the Deputy Director of the Assessment and Testing Center Karo Nasibyan informed that for the first time in the 2nd round of the summer admission, fewer exams will be held than in January-February.
“As you know, for several years now, applicants have had the opportunity to take the exam both in January-February and in the summer. Usually more exams are held in summer than in winter, but this year the picture has changed. This year in the summer we will organize 21 thousand 130, and in the winter we have organized 23 thousand 472 applicant-exams. This is due to the fact that the graduates who took the exam in January-February are satisfied with their grades and do not want to participate in the exams in the summer,” said Karo Nasibyan.
Although the results of the exams given in January-February were satisfactory for many graduates and they did not want to take part in the exams in the summer, they were obliged to declare that they keep their grades, as well as the university and the profession. Despite the awareness activities, in any case there were applicants who did not manage to apply within the specified period. The application period was from April 15 to May 10.
“We informed the applicants through many sources, we even sent several SMS messages days before the application deadline. After that, it was found that 70 applicants did not register. This is a problem that we have had in the past, and the solution of which is not within the competence of the GTC. Only by the decision of the Ministry of Education and Culture, they can have the opportunity to participate in the additional round of exams,” said Karo Nasibyan.
According to the schedule published by the assessment and testing center, “Biology”, “Geography” will be held on June 12, “Foreign languages”/English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Persian/ on June 16, “Mathematics” on June 19, “Armenian language and Armenian literature” on June 23, “Chemistry”, “Russian” on June 26, “Physics” on June 30. Exams in “Armenian History” subjects. Additional exams will be held next.
As for the choice of professions, Karo Nasibyan noted that the trend is generally maintained compared to previous years.
“This year, the competition is quite high in the stomatology educational program at the Yerevan Medical University, when the index for 1 place is 2.9, the second place is medical work with 2.3 for 1 place. The next specialty, where there is also competition, is jurisprudence, at YSU, the index for 1 place is 2.1. Here I would like to mention that the design profession is quite in demand among applicants this year,” said Karo Nasibyan.
In the total number of applicants, Yerevan State University is in the first place, in second place is the State University of Economics of Armenia, then the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, the Yerevan State Medical University, etc.
