At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister delivered an orientation speech in which she affirmed that the state has harnessed all material, organizational and human capabilities to make the summer holiday season a success, ensuring the improvement of reception conditions and the quality of services provided to citizens, holidaymakers and visitors across various national tourist destinations, while providing the highest levels of security, cleanliness and comfort, especially for the benefit of members of the national community abroad who arrive in significant numbers during the summer period.
The Minister highlighted that the summer season is an important national date for revitalizing #domestic_tourism and promoting #Algerian_tourist_destination, and an opportunity to highlight the natural, cultural and heritage qualities that abound in various regions of the country, as well as to value traditional_industry and crafts as an integral part of the Algerian tourist experience.
She also stressed that the sector’s vision goes beyond the seasonal nature, to be based on developing tourism and traditional industry as economic contributors that produce wealth and contribute to diversifying the national economy, creating jobs, and promoting local development, by improving the attractiveness of tourist destinations, raising the quality of services, expanding the tourism offer, and stimulating investment.
The meeting was devoted to listening to detailed presentations presented by the directors of tourism and traditional industry of the coastal states, which included the outcome of the ongoing and completed preparations at the level of their states under the direct supervision of the governors and in coordination with the various sectors and concerned bodies.
These presentations allowed us to evaluate the progress of various operations related to preparing beaches, equipping tourist spaces, improving the surroundings and cleanliness, following up on tourism investment projects, preparing tourism and cultural revitalization programs, as well as improving reception conditions and services provided to vacationers.
Regarding beach preparation, as of May 31, 2026, 528 beaches allowed for swimming were opened out of 648 beaches, distributed across 124 coastal municipalities, which reflects the progress of field preparations underway across the coastal states.
Also, 328 beaches equipped with a tourism development plan were registered, with an additional 63 plans being completed and expected to be completed before the official start of the season.
In this context, the Minister stressed the need to accelerate the pace of completion of these plans as an essential regulatory tool to ensure orderly and modern exploitation of beaches, while strictly implementing the provisions of the new law regulating the tourist exploitation of beaches, ensuring free access to them and enabling families to benefit from them in the best conditions.
With regard to tourism investment, the Minister stressed the need to continue accompanying investors and economic dealers to complete the tourism projects under implementation and bring them into exploitation within the specified deadlines.
In this context, 39 new hotel establishments are expected to enter service before the current summer season. So far, 9 new hotel projects have been entered into, with a total capacity of 890 beds.
It is also expected that 7 additional projects will enter during the month of June, which will contribute to raising the national accommodation capacity, enhancing the competitiveness of the sector and improving the hotel supply, with the number of hotel establishments increasing to 890 establishments of various types.
In the field of digitization, the Minister stressed the need to generalize the use of digital solutions in various tourism services, especially in the areas of electronic reservation, digital payment, and the management of accommodation institutions, which contributes to improving services and facilitating citizens’ access to various tourism offers. It also called for intensifying the promotion of the Algerian tourist destination through various digital and media outlets, and preparing professional promotional contents that highlight the national tourism components.
With regard to tourism revitalization, the Minister stressed the importance of adding a cultural, recreational and economic dimension to the summer season through various programs targeting various segments of society.
She also stressed the need to give a special place to traditional industry and crafts by organizing general and specialized salons and exhibitions in the coastal states, with the involvement of artisans and associations from various states of the country, especially the states of the south, and providing suitable spaces for displaying and marketing the national craft product.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister presented a comprehensive assessment of the level of preparations recorded across the various coastal states, where she noted the great efforts made by the directors of tourism and traditional industry and the directors of the traditional chambers of industry and crafts, appreciating the level of commitment, mobilization and field follow-up that was observed during this meeting.
She also praised the pivotal role played by these local frameworks in implementing the sector’s strategy on the ground, and in coordinating with various stakeholders and partners to make the 2026 summer season a success.
In this context, the Minister sent messages of encouragement and motivation to all executives, calling for continuing regular and continuous mobilization, and for sparing no effort during the next stage, to ensure the success of the season, improve the quality of services, and improve reception conditions, which contributes to strengthening the image of #Algeria as a preferred destination for tourism and recreation.
Finally, the Minister confirmed that she will continue periodic and field monitoring of the progress of the summer holiday season in coordination with all partners and stakeholders, stressing that the success of the season is measured by the extent of the satisfaction of holidaymakers and visitors with the quality of services provided, the quality of reception, and the conditions of comfort, security and cleanliness across various national tourist destinations.
