Moldova-Institut Leipzig will organize an Autumn School dedicated to the development of media literacy and the fight against disinformation from September 20 to 27, 2026 in Leipzig and Berlin. The program is intended for journalists, media representatives and specialized NGOs, university teachers and researchers from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia. Participants will be able to attend lectures, practical seminars and discussions on propaganda, fact-checking, journalistic ethics and digital verification of information, as well as visit media editorial offices and cultural institutions in Germany. Organizers
Moldova-Institut Leipzig (MIL) in collaboration with the State University of Moldova (USM), Rivne State Humanitarian University (RGGU), Hetq.am, National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), NewsMaker.md, Nokta.md and the Association of Independent Press (API) is holding an Autumn School this year as part of the program “Expanding cooperation with civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia”. The project is carried out with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany (AA).
Participants
Target group: journalists, representatives of media organizations and specialized non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as university teachers (in particular, faculties of journalism and communications) and scientists from Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Armenia working in this field.
Goals and program
The Autumn School program includes lectures by German experts on media literacy, fact-checking and digital verification, practical classes on analyzing and evaluating media content, discussions on disinformation, propaganda and media ethics, as well as visits to editorial offices, cultural institutions in Leipzig and Berlin and meetings with German colleagues.
The focus is on the critical perception of information in various social contexts. In addition, German crisis reporters will share their experience working in conflict zones, particularly in Ukraine. At the same time, issues of journalistic responsibility, ethical standards, and psychological stress will be discussed. Particular attention is paid to the development of visual media literacy. Participants will learn to critically analyze visual content and differentiate public discourse.
Financing
The project is funded by the German Foreign Office (AA). Participants are covered for the costs of accommodation, training, cultural and excursion programs, as well as meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Travel expenses (arrival and departure) will be reimbursed upon arrival in Leipzig in the amount of actual costs, but not more than the established limits:
- for participants from Ukraine – up to 300 €,
- for participants from Moldova – up to 350 €,
- for participants from Armenia – up to 400 €,
- for participants from Georgia – up to 400 € per person.

The complete application package (documents are accepted in German, Ukrainian, English, Russian or Romanian) must contain:
- Brief summary in tabular form (CV);
- Motivation letter (maximum one page);
- A copy of your higher education diploma;
- Information about language proficiency (in free form).

Working language
The working language of the Autumn School is German (with consecutive translation into Russian and vice versa). Participants can also ask questions in English, Ukrainian and Romanian.
