The Higher Court in Negotin suspended the criminal proceedings against R. D, the father of DD accused of murdering two-year-old Danka Ilić on March 26, 2024, Radio-television of Serbia announced today.
The court decided that there is no room for accusations against R. D, whom the prosecution accused of committing criminal acts, failure to report a criminal act and assisting the perpetrator after the commission of a criminal act. The prosecution accused him of helping his son DD move the girl’s body.
That decision was sent to the parties in the proceedings, namely the prosecution, RD and his defense attorney, and they have three days to file an appeal. If one of them files an appeal, it will be decided by the Appellate Court in Nis.
In this case, the Appellate Court in Niš previously confirmed part of the indictment which refers to DD and S. J, while the part related to RD was canceled and sent back to the first instance court for decision.
With the indictment, which was filed after the investigation was completed, DD and SJ were accused of the crime of aggravated murder in complicity.
The completion of the investigation was carried out by order of the Appellate Court in Niš, as it twice returned the decision confirming the indictment to the High Court in Zaječar, with the second time ordering that the decision be made by a completely new panel of the High Court in Negotin. In the indictment, the prosecution suggested that the court sentence DD and SJ to life imprisonment.
It is suspected that on March 26, DD and SJ hit a two-year-old girl with the car of JKP “Vodovod”, where they were employed, in Banjsko polje near Bor, and then put her in the vehicle. It is suspected that they threw her body at a landfill, from where it was later moved.
The girl’s body was never found. RD suspects that he helped DD’s son move the girl’s body.
DD’s own brother, DD, died on April 7, 2024 in the premises of the Police Department in Bor during detention, RTS reminds.
