Dominik Szoboszlai has been named to the English Premier League’s Fan Team of the Season, which was selected based on fan votes on the Premier League’s website.
The captain of the Hungarian national team is the only Liverpool player to earn a place in the fan-voted starting lineup.
Over 200,000 football fans from around the world took part in the vote, selecting their dream team from a shortlist of 60 players.
Arsenal, who were crowned champions, supplied the largest contingent with five representatives. Goalkeeper David Raya was included alongside defenders Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes, while midfielder Declan Rice also secured a spot in the team.
Manchester City contributed three players to the lineup. Leading the group is the league’s top scorer, Erling Haaland, who was joined by Nico O’Reilly and Antoine Semenyo. The remaining places on the Dream Team went to Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, Igor Thiago of Brentford, and Szoboszlai.
Fact
Dominik Szoboszlai was also in contention for an individual honor this season, having been nominated for the Premier League’s Guinness Goal of the Season award. The Hungarian midfielder earned a place on the 10-player shortlist thanks to his spectacular 25-meter strike in the 83rd minute of Liverpool’s match against Arsenal on August 31, a goal that proved decisive in securing victory for the Reds.
The award ultimately went to Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed, whose remarkable long-range effort deep into second-half stoppage time earned his side a dramatic 2-2 draw against Liverpool in January.
