Antonio Conte is no longer the coach of the team Naples. The club officially announced this on Monday, with a laconic post on X – “Thank you Mister Conte” – to thank the coach.
His departure was widely expected as the Italian coach himself announced it on Sunday night after Napoli’s 1-0 win against Udinese in stage 38th in Serie A, in a bizarre press conference in which he directly contradicted his president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, regarding the merits of the team Inter Milanwho was crowned champion.
Conte (56) joined Napoli in the summer of 2024 and led the club to the Scudetto in his first season as manager. The second season was less successful, finishing second in Serie A, well behind Inter Milan.
Antonio Conte ends his time at Napoli after 91 matches as a coach (54 wins, 19 draws, 18 losses) and an average of 1.99 points per game in championshipthe third highest average for a Napoli manager in the 21st century, behind Luciano Spalletti (2.10) and Maurizio Sarri (2.16).
This season, Conte’s main obstacle has been – as is often the case – European competition, with elimination in the Champions League group stage. This elimination also coincided with a dip in form for Napoli, who were then trailing a more consistent Inter Milan in the title race.
