Winning one title is hard, and winning consecutive titles is harder, but the Windsor School junior girls and the Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) junior boys both doubled up at the 2026 New Providence Junior High School Soccer Championships.
The Windsor School junior girls shut out the St. Augustine’s College (SAC) Big Red Machine, 1-0, to reclaim their stake as titleholders at the Roscow A.L. Davies (RALD) Soccer Fields on Wednesday. As for the junior boys, the LCIS Dragons also repeated, taking down the Queen’s College (QC) Comets, 1-0, in extra time to repeat as champions.

They had a tough season due to injuries, but it felt extra special to see the girls work together to leave with hardware, said Windsor Head Coach Katie Roach.
“We are incredibly proud,” Coach Roach said. “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy to defend the title. It’s a special year for us. We had to overcome a lot of roster lineups due to injuries and students who are gonna be moving on or have moved on, so we brought the best of what we had, and we just fought with our hearts this time. We fought with our hearts, so I am super proud.”
It did not come pretty, but Windsor got the job done. They got their lone score of the evening on an own goal by SAC’s Renique Scavella.
Windsor attempted to score from the left corner of the penalty box, and in an attempt to block the shot, Scavella scored in Windsor’s favor.
After securing a 1-0 edge in the first half, Windsor made it a defensive game the rest of the way to hold on to its lead.
Coach Roach shared the team’s strategy against the Big Red Machine.
“We knew with a different lineup we had to be strong in the backline, and in the middle, and that we had to be on from the kickoff. We had to bring the intensity, and the girls did that, and they managed the game well, and I couldn’t ask for more.”
Isabelle Kennedy was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the matchup.
Junior boys
Defense was the name of the game in the first half of the Dragons and Comets junior boys showdown.
Both teams had their chances but were unsuccessful at scoring in the first half, leading to a 0-0 draw at intermission.
The defensive intensity continued in the second half, and LCIS scored the lone goal off a corner assist from Luca Giallombardo in extra time.
A last-minute cleanup from James Frantz proved to be the nail in the coffin. The game-winning kick earned him the MVP Award.
Dragons’ Head Coach Dan Weightman spoke about the school’s consecutive junior championships.
“It was a great win,” Coach Weightman said. “It was a great game. Hats off to QC for playing well. It went to the last couple of minutes there, and we just kept battling and battled through some injuries, but the boys prevailed. I’m really proud of them. The effort was exceptional today.”
The junior boys MVP spoke about what was going through his mind on the game-winning play.
“I just shot it, scored it and did the job,” he said. “Nothing was really going through my head. I just wanted to do it for my team … it’s a big change from the 5-0 win we had in the BAISS [Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools] finals ,so it was really intense, but we were able to win it in the end. I was happy about that.”
The senior portion of the Samuel P. Haven Jr. National High School Soccer Championships resumes today with semifinal matchups.
Games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the RALD Soccer Fields.
