A senior Vietnamese Communist Party official arrived in Laos on April 9, 2026, for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between the two countries.
Tran Cam Tu, a member of the Politburo and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, is visiting at the invitation of his Lao counterpart, Vilay Lakhamphong.
He was welcomed at Wattay International Airport by senior Lao officials, along with representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Laos.
The visit marks Tran Cam Tu’s first official trip to Laos in his current role and comes amid a period of key political and cultural events in both countries.
Officials said the visit reflects continued efforts to strengthen political trust, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
During the visit, Tran Cam Tu is expected to meet senior Lao leaders to discuss cooperation in areas including infrastructure connectivity, cross-border trade, education and digital transformation.
He is also scheduled to meet staff at the Vietnamese Embassy and members of the Vietnamese community in Laos.
Officials said the visit is expected to further reinforce the longstanding friendship, special solidarity and strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries.
