The mastermind behind the project
The idea behind the cable car project, Gerth Poulsen, who owns Inuk Travel, believes that the city needs to be able to offer more experiences to tourists, and the cable car – which may end up being the longest in the Nordic region – will also be able to give the city’s citizens a new and special experience.
Inuk Travel is behind several initiatives and different experiences.
At Inuk Hostels, there is a sauna and a wilderness bath with a view of Sermitsiaq, and where there is also the opportunity to experience the northern lights. Inuk Travel is the majority shareholder in Inuk Hostels.

Another investment that Inuk Travel has made is the purchase of 2 UTV tracked snowmobiles, which have room for six people at the same time, which gives the opportunity to have a very special experience in the mountains far from city life.
The cable car is a natural continuation of an alternative adrenaline experience, as it is formulated.
– Now let’s show the world what we can do here in Nuuk. There is so much we could offer here in Nuuk, says Gerth Poulsen.
The tourism industry must be developed
It is pointed out that there is a need to develop the tourism industry after the new Atlantlufthavn is opened.
The hearing deadline is set for 8 February and you can read more about the project here on the municipality’s consultation portal
When the consultation has ended and the comments or objections received have been dealt with, the Administration for Construction and the Environment will send the case to the Committee for Technology and the Environment, after which the municipal politicians must make the final decision.
