Ulaanbaatar,
April 10, 2026 /MONTSAME/. An
Open Day, jointly organized by the
Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Energy, is being
held at Sukhbaatar Square from April 9-11, 2026.
During
the three-day event, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources is
presenting sector policies and ongoing initiatives to the public, while
providing information to citizens and businesses and addressing their feedback
and complaints on-site.
Speaking
at the opening, State Secretary Dashpurev Buriad highlighted that the mining
sector achieved record performance in 2025, exporting 90 million tonnes of coal,
2.5 million tonnes of copper concentrate, and 480,000 tonnes of crude oil. He also
noted that proposed amendments to the Minerals Law are expected to serve as a
key driver for advancing major projects comparable to Oyu Tolgoi and Tavan
Tolgoi in the coming period. The ministry is currently focusing on a number of
mega projects, including a steel processing plant, a gold refinery, and a
high-tech coal processing facility based on pyrolysis at the Baganuur mine.
Meanwhile,
the Ministry of Energy is showcasing its sector policies, the current state of
electricity and heat supply, and new renewable energy solutions. It is also
providing advisory services to citizens and receiving and resolving public
petitions and complaints throughout the event.
