Fifty-seven Belizean students are one step closer to achieving their academic dreams. Belize Telemedia Limited today bet on Belize’s future for the 35th round, this time expanding its flagship education programme to include junior college recipients for the first time.
Forty students entering high school and 17 beginning junior college were selected to receive tuition support, books, school supplies, internet connectivity and mentorship throughout their studies.
During today’s ceremony, BTL Chief Executive Officer Ivan Tesucum said the programme reflects the company’s long-term investment in Belize’s future. He said, “Today each and every one of us sees the future of Belize in this room. We’re looking at students who have worked hard, who stayed focused, who kept trying, and who have earned this moment.”
According to Tesucum, Digi invests more than $300,000 annually in scholarships because education remains one of the strongest tools for national development. He drew attention to this year’s scholarship theme, “Go Further”, saying, “It does not mean you will never face challenges; it means that when school gets difficult, you keep going…. It means that every day, little by little, you choose discipline over distraction, consistency over convenience or comfort, effort over excuses, and purpose over fear.”
