A man went on a cruise with a considerable amount of hashish in his suitcase. On Thursday, he received his sentence in the circuit court.
Thursday morning is one 29-man sentenced in Sermersooq Circuit Court for possession of nearly 25 kilos of hashish. The sentence was imprisonment for three years and six months.
– The court has emphasized the enormous amount of hashish and does not see any mitigating circumstances, said the judge.
The man was a passenger on the Sarfaq Ittuk on the evening of April 17 this year when he was apprehended with 24.7 kilos of hashish in his luggage. He already then admitted possession of the hash.
In the circuit court, the man’s defender argued for a slightly milder measure for him. It didn’t work out.
In addition to the hash in the luggage, the man had DKK 10,050 in his trouser pocket. One hundred kroner notes and a single fifty. He said that the money came from poker games and therefore not hash trading. They were confiscated anyway.
The 29-year-old has been detained in Nuuk before today’s court hearing. During his time in the institution, he was caught with a very small amount of hashish for his own consumption, for which he was also convicted.
Both the convicted man and the prosecutor receive the sentence, and thus the case ends here.
