A total of 23 people were killed in separate criminal offences in Finland from January to March this year, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of murders is four higher than the number during the stipulated period of the previous year.
According to the statistics, a total of 123,700 offences against the Criminal Code were recorded by the police, customs and border guard in January to March 2026, which is 0.6 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
The number of reported assaults was 11,100, which is 6.9 per cent more than in the year before.
A total of 300 cases of sexual harassment were reported, which is just under one per cent more than in 2025. Of the acts, 100 were committed on the Internet.
A total of 358 reports were made about dissemination or possession of a sexually offensive image of a child or following a sexually offensive performance of a child, which is 24.2 per cent fewer than in the previous year. Over 90 per cent of the acts were committed on the Internet.
Offences committed on the Internet may in particular result in several offence reports.
