Cochrane thanks family, supporters as he concedes
Garett Cochrane has returned to the party he is hosting at Elks Lodge.
He spoke to his supporters who came out to encourage him tonight, and told them he had conceded to his opponent Melissa Syer. He also wished Syer the best as she prepares to serve as Yellowknife’s next mayor.
“While tonight’s result is not what we worked so hard to achieve, I stand here with no regrets,” he told the room.
Emotion could be heard in Cochrane’s voice as he thanked his parents, his team and his partner.
“I care deeply about the future of Yellowknife and my commitment to serving this community will not waiver, he said.
