Authors from El Salvador and Cuba receive the Casa de las Américas 2026 Award in the categories of testimonial literature and historical-social essay.
The cultural institution Casa de las Américas awards the award this April 24 to Salvadoran Carlos Santos for Dr. Death: Confessions and the Cuban Rodney González for Chronicle of an announced crisis: the immigration policy of the United States towards Cuba (1960-2024).
According to the jury, the works stand out for their narrative quality and analysis, while they also awarded a mention to the Ecuadorian Juan Pablo Castro for The butterfly labyrinthin the testimonial genre.
