West Ham thrashed another struggling team, Wolverhampton Wanderers, 4-0 on Friday, plunging Tottenham into the Premier League relegation zone for the first time this season.
Spurs were two points behind the Hammers heading into the trip to Sunderland on Sunday.
Argentina’s Valentín Castellanos scored twice in three minutes midway through the second half, after Konstantinos Mavropanos made it 1-0 for the Hammers with a header just before the break.
Konstantinos completed the rout seven minutes from time with an acrobatic volley after a corner kick.
The Wolves remained in last place in the league and with a great possibility of relegation.
Neither team stood out in a forgettable first half, but West Ham went into the break with THE lead when Mavropanos headed Jarrod Bowen’s cross into the net.
