A massive study conducted in France and published in the European Heart Journal, one of the most prestigious publications in the medical world, revealed the hidden danger in packaged foods. Data from more than 112 thousand people, followed by scientists for many years, revealed that there is a serious link between some preservative additives frequently used in ready-made foods and high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases.
HIDDEN CRIMES INSIDE THE PACKAGES
8 of the 17 common protectors examined within the scope of the research were found to be defective in terms of heart health. Potassium sorbate, potassium metabisulfite, sodium nitrite, ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate, sodium erythrobate, citric acid and rosemary extracts, which appear in the ingredient list of ready-made foods we frequently consume, were directly associated with the risk of high blood pressure. It has been determined that ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C, can trigger not only blood pressure but also cardiovascular diseases.

CONSUMPTION AMOUNT AND HEART RISK ARE DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL
The data obtained shows that people who consume more of these additives in their daily diet are at a much greater threat. In those who consume non-antioxidant preservatives extensively, the risk of high blood pressure is 29 percent higher and the risk of cardiovascular disease is 16 percent higher. It is noteworthy that the risk of high blood pressure increases by 22 percent even when people consume high amounts of antioxidant additives.
CALL FROM EXPERTS ‘BACK TO NATURAL’
Following these striking findings, experts agree that the safety limits of preservatives used in the food industry need to be urgently re-evaluated. It is vital for anyone who wants to protect their cardiovascular health to stay away from packaged, ready-made foods as much as possible and switch to unprocessed or less processed natural foods. The current results clearly prove that we now need to read labels much more carefully when shopping.
