The Waitukubuli Artist Association (WAA) and Prevo Cinemall will explore the many dimensions of identity through a group art exhibition opening in Roseau on October 17, 2026.
Titled ‘The Anatomy of Self ‘, the exhibition will run until December 11, bringing together works that examine how personal history, cultural heritage, relationships, memories and lived experiences shape individual identity.
A joint press release shared that the exhibition will feature painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media and installation, inviting visitors to look beyond conventional definitions of identity and reflect on the diverse ways people understand and express themselves.
It marks the third collaboration between WAA and Prevo Cinemall, following ‘Echoes of Resilience’ (2024–2025) and ‘Paradise of Colours and Expressions’ (2025).
WAA Executive Director Marica Honychurch said the exhibition brings together different artistic voices and experiences to create something beautiful, expressing hope that visitors will connect with the creativity of the participating artists.
She said the initiative also reflects the partners’ commitment to giving Dominican artists opportunities to showcase their work and contribute to discussions about culture, belonging, history and contemporary life.
Through the partnership, Prevo Cinemall said it continues to develop its role as a Heritage Hub for artistic expression and community engagement.
The exhibition will be accompanied by fringe activities, including watercolour and clay workshops with Aaron Hamilton and Antonio Toledo, respectively.
Other events include ‘Lyrics Under the Stars’, an improv theatre show by Mission Improvable, a pop-up book club discussion with author Robert de la Chevotière on his book ‘Tall Is Her Body ‘, and a plant-dye workshop titled ‘Rooted in Colour’ with Carol Sorhaindo.
A panel discussion on identity is also planned, with the full calendar to be released in the coming days.
Prevo Cinemall General Manager Vanessa Prevost said the establishment’s art gallery and exposition hall represents another step towards making the venue Dominica’s Heritage Hub. The exhibition will also form part of this year’s Shopping Festival at Prevo Cinemall, combining fine arts and cinema with shopping, dining and social activities.
The public, including students, art enthusiasts and visitors to Dominica, is invited to attend and support local artists by purchasing original works.
The exhibition will be open Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It will be closed on Sundays.
WAA thanked its sponsors and patrons, with special recognition for major sponsors National Bank of Dominica and the Gems Foundation. Other supporters include DNO, 100% Green Inc., Black Island Girl Multimedia, Campbell’s, and Kairi FM.
“This exhibition brings together diverse artistic voices, perspectives and experiences to create something beautiful. We hope our audience enjoys the journey and connects with the creativity that each artist brings to the collective,” said Marica Honychurch, Executive Director of WAA
