A video from a security camera shows the moment in which two people arrive on a motorcycle to the La Selvita farm, located in the Aguafilla sector, in the rural area of Yopal, Casanare, and shoot John Jairo Torres, known as ‘John Calzones’ and former mayor of the capital of the department.

In the camera record the displacement of the two men on the motorcycle to the property, one of them a minor. The images are part of the material that is being reviewed by the authorities within the investigations to establish the circumstances of the crime and determine who participated in the incident.
According to preliminary information known to the authorities, The former mayor was shot four times, affecting the chest, abdomen and left arm.. After the attack he was rushed to the Orinoquía Regional Hospital, where he was admitted with a reserved prognosis and underwent surgery due to the severity of the injuries.

The capture corresponds to a minor, whose possible participation in the attack is being investigated. After the attack, uniformed members of the Dijín and the Sijín deployed a reaction in the area and carried out the work that ended with the arrest of the minor.
Sources close to the case indicated that one of the lines that investigators are reviewing seeks to establish whether the attack It would be related to disputes over assets that would have belonged to people linked to drug trafficking.

In this regard, Jhon Fredy González, Secretary of the Government of Yopal, explained that from the moment the attack became known, work was articulated between the Mayor’s Office, the Government of Casanare and the Public Force to generate a reaction in the municipality. The Casanare Police, meanwhile, provided details about the first actions carried out after learning of the attack. Colonel Pablo Javier Galindo, commander of the Casanare Police Department, explained that the institution activated its procedures and that the padlock plan allowed progress in the search for those responsible.
According to the officer, Yopal’s closed-circuit television cameras were decisive in establishing part of the movements carried out before the attack. “Through actions of the padlock plan and with the support of Yopal’s closed-circuit television cameras, it is possible to establish one of the activities that these people did to reach the site,” Galindo stated.
The commander added that Judicial Police investigators and intelligence personnel are already working on the investigation. “The National Police, together with all its judicial police personnel, its investigators and intelligence personnel, is beginning the entire investigation into this case,” he said.
