Chief Whale Reserve Officer
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy invites applications from qualified and motivated individuals for the position of Chief Whale Reserve Officer.
As Dominica continues to advance its Blue and Green Economy agenda under the National Resilience Development Strategy (NRDS) 2030, this is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the management and development of the country’s Sperm Whale Reserve.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing overall management of the Sperm Whale Reserve (SWR)
- Supporting the preparation and implementation of the Reserve’s management plans and budget
- Recruiting, training and supervising SWR staff
- Preparing and submitting reports
- Providing technical advice on cetaceans and the Sperm Whale Reserve
- Leading public communications and stakeholder engagement
- Coordinating monitoring, surveillance and enforcement activities in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force and Coast Guard
- Pursuing grants, partnerships and fundraising opportunities to support the Reserve
