The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has released further details on the fatal road traffic collision at Canefield Cliff that claimed the life of 56-year-old Jean Zacharie Honore on Monday, August 24, 2026.
According to Police PRO Ag ASP Fixton Henderson, the crash occurred at about 12:00 noon beneath the Canefield Cliff along the E.O. Leblanc Highway.
Honore, a Haitian national who resided at Benjamin Lane, Goodwill, was driving a Nissan double-cab pickup north along the highway when it collided with a Nissan Frontier traveling in the opposite direction.
The Frontier was being driven by Clementus Joseph, an adult male of River Estate.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the collision, and both drivers were transported by ambulance to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital for medical attention.
Police said Joseph was treated and discharged from the hospital later that afternoon.
Honore, however, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash. He was examined at the hospital and pronounced dead.
The CDPF is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and has extended condolences to Honore’s family.
