KUJALLEQ SAYS STOP
After the temporary stop for alcohol sales in South Greenland, the sale of yeast has increased sharply. In one of the settlements, a customer has bought 47 packets of dry yeast. Pilersuisoq is therefore introducing a limit of four packets of yeast per household per day to ensure that there is enough for everyone.
After the sale of alcohol in South Greenland was temporarily closed, yeast has become a popular item in Pilersuisoq’s stores.
– For example, 47 packages of yeast have been bought at one time in one settlement, and of course this is not normal either, KNI’s director of HR, communication and sustainability, Juliane Henningsen Heilmann, tells Sermitsiaq.
She does not want to disclose in which settlement such large quantities of yeast have been bought.
Do you have any idea why so many are being bought?
– I can’t really comment on that, but we have established that large quantities have been purchased.
The yeast will sell out quickly
Due to the large sales of yeast, some stores have sold out.
– When large quantities of yeast have been bought repeatedly in recent days, and the shops have therefore started to run out, we at KNI are suppliers of necessary goods. Therefore, we have assessed that we must limit the sale of yeast, so that a maximum of four packages can be purchased per household, says Juliane Henningsen Heilmann.
How long will the restrictions apply?
– We from KNI have held a meeting with the Municipality of Kujalleq. We will of course follow developments in the coming time. We cannot say how long the current restrictions will be in place. The most important thing for us is that there are enough goods for the citizens, concludes Juliane Henningsen Heilmann.
