🟢INVOLVING YOUNG PEOPLE IN POLITICS
Students from the University of Lima participated in a hearing organized by El Comercio and IDEA Internacional to talk with senators and elected representatives of the new Congress. For two days, young people developed questions in workshops and then posed them to legislators. The debate focused on transparency, political representation and citizen trust. The meeting sought to bring young people closer to the legislative process and collect their main demands regarding the return of bicameralism.
🟡EMERGENCY IN EIGHT REGIONS
The Government will declare a state of emergency in eight regions of the country before the fortnight of July as a prevention against the possible impact of coastal El Niño. The decision responds to the risk scenarios prepared by Cenepred and reports from Enfen, which warn of intense rains, floods and overflows during the summer of 2026-2027. The measure will allow for streamlining prevention, coordination and response actions to reduce the effects of the climate event in the most vulnerable areas.
🔴A NEW AZ BUSS ATTACK
The interprovincial transportation company Z Buss suffered a new armed attack when two criminals on a motorcycle shot at one of its units on the Panamericana Norte, near Ancón. The attack, which left the driver injured and generated panic among passengers, occurred despite recent arrests of alleged extortionists linked to these crimes. After the attack, the company temporarily suspended its operations and demanded greater action from the authorities to guarantee the safety of workers and users.
