SAN MARINO – After twelve years at the helm of the University of the Republic of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli concludes his mandate as Rector. From 1 October the role passes to Paolo Pascuccicalled to continue the growth path of the University.
In his greeting to institutions, teachers and staff, held in the headquarters of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, Petrocelli took stock of the journey begun in 2014, focusing in particular on the relationship built between the University and the territory.
“The San Marino community has decided that this University is an asset for their country,” said Petrocelli. Among the data mentioned, the increase in San Marino students enrolled in degree courses, which went from 1% to 12%, and the recognitions obtained at an international level, including the certification of the Institutional Evaluation Program of the European University Association.
Petrocelli attributed the results achieved to the work shared with teachers and staff: “Without you I wouldn’t have been able to do anything, what you passed on to me made me grow and strengthened the belief that you never stop learning”.
The Secretary of State for Education and Culture Teodoro Lonfernini thanked the outgoing Rector, underlining “his humanity, as well as his professionalism”, demonstrated not only in the academic field but in the entire San Marino community.
The Italian ambassador to San Marino also spoke at the meeting Fabrizio Colaceciwho defined Petrocelli as a figure of “great talent”.
The new Rector Paolo Pascucci he explained that he accepted the role in the belief that the work carried out in recent years should be “continued and developed”, recalling the transformation of the University from a still embryonic reality to a University recognized according to European standards.
Petrocelli will remain within the University, assuming the role of director of the Historical and Legal Department. Changes also in the general management: from 16 September Maria Grazia Albertini took over from Laura Gobbi.
