We put that question to Union Senator Glenfield Dennison, asking whether organized labor and the wider public could once again unite against the government. Dennison reminded us that the historic 2005 demonstrations did not erupt overnight. They grew from months of mounting anger over several national issues. And he believes today’s economic and political pressures may be creating conditions for a similar groundswell.

“You know it is interesting, because the first time we stood here on this BTL issue right over there I said I am getting, starting to feel like 2005. That is how many months ago? When, the opposition party members when to that bridge and block it because they held Yellowman. 2005 we refer to it like it was a singular period. What has to happen was like 2003, there were tax members and the society start to come together, little blocks start to form. I know you think it was a lot of talk, but this is what has to happen. We need to have the ground swell and I think we will be ripe to just make 2005 look like pappishow.”
