SAN MARINO – San Marino closes the UEFA Under 15 Development Tournament with a large and historic victory. On the last day played at Dogana, the young Titans led by Of Spirit they overwhelmed Liechtenstein 9-1, finishing the competition in third place with five points.
However, the match opened with Liechtenstein taking the lead after just a minute, thanks to a header by Oberwaditzer. The San Marino reaction is immediate: in the 3rd minute Sensoli equalized on an assist from Valentiniwhile at 12′ it’s the same Valentini to complete the overtaking.
Two minutes later Grind he scores the 3-1 with a powerful shot, then again in the 16th minute Valentini found the net to make it 4-1 at the end of a great team effort. In the 19th minute San Marino could extend the lead further, but Jourdain has a penalty kick blocked by Tinner.
The fifth goal however came two minutes later with Valentiniwhich thus completes its hat-trick. Before the break he takes the chair Melonsscorer of two goals in the 39th and 42nd minutes, which took San Marino into the locker room at 7-1.
In the second half the pace slowed, but the Titans continued to find their way to the net. At 78′ Rats takes advantage of an imperfect exit from the opposing goalkeeper following a corner kick and scores the 8-1. The ninth goal also arrives just before the 90th minute: Berardi finds a spectacular volley from outside the area that goes into the top corner for the final 9-1.
However, success is not enough for San Marino to win the tournament. In the other match of the final day Gibraltar beat Andorra 3-0 thanks to a brace from Greene and to the network of Moreno Ruiztaking first place with seven points.
The final ranking therefore sees Gibraltar in command with seven points, Andorra second with six and San Marino third with five. Liechtenstein closes without points.
