The professors of the oldest and largest university in Macedonia, “St. Cyril and Methodius”, today re-elected the current rector, Biljana Angelova, to the position. According to the election commission, Angelova won 2924 points, compared to her opponent, Darko Danev, who won 2675 points.
Today, from 12:00 to 14:00, the teaching and research staff of each of the units in the UKIM chose between the two candidates for the new rector – Angelova and Darko Danev – by secret ballot.
Angelova, as stated in the Minutes, won 2,924,125 points, and Dr. Darko Danev, full professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje, won 2,675,875 points.
The rector’s mandate, the election commission emphasizes, lasts for three years, from September 16, 2026 to September 15, 2029.
Voting was held at 23 faculties and five institutes within UKIM. The voting started and ended at the scheduled time, and according to the submitted minutes and reports of the Electoral Commissions of the units, no irregularities and problems were found.
Biljana Angelova was born in Skopje. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the “St. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, where she received her doctorate in 1999 at the Faculty of Economics.
She has been employed at the Economic Institute since 1992, where she is continuously selected for all scientific and teaching-scientific positions. In 2007, for the first time, she was elected to the highest academic title of scientific advisor/full professor in the field of business finance, and in 2012 she was again elected to the full professorship in the field of financial management.
