The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has activated security measures following an unverified report concerning possible threats to embassies, diplomatic facilities and Government buildings.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Suzette Martin, has instructed divisional commanders to implement the necessary operational measures while police work with intelligence and national security partners to assess the credibility of the report.
The TTPS said the information is being treated seriously and with the required operational sensitivity.
However, police stressed that the threat remains unverified and cautioned the public against speculation or sharing unconfirmed information, particularly claims about the identity, affiliation or location of any person or group.
The TTPS said it is acting with due diligence and urged citizens to remain calm and alert.
Members of the public are also being asked to immediately report any suspicious persons, vehicles, packages or unusual activity to police.
The TTPS said further information will be provided if necessary and when it is operationally appropriate to do so.
