Trinidad and Tobago has signed an Air Services Agreement with Chile, establishing a framework for air services between the two countries.
Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Sean Sobers signed the agreement on Wednesday in New York on behalf of the Trinidad and Tobago Government during the United Nations General Assembly.
The Trinidad and Tobago delegation was led by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The agreement is intended to facilitate greater air connectivity between the Caribbean and South America and support tourism, trade, investment and travel between Trinidad and Tobago and Chile.
Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Eli Zakour said the agreement was another step in the Government’s efforts to expand Trinidad and Tobago’s international aviation network.
The agreement follows similar agreements signed with Panama and Ghana on September 21.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said it would continue working with local and international partners on air services arrangements.
