The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threw a glass of water on the ground this Thursday during a political event in Texas to compare the savings of small amounts of fuel with the volume of oil that, he claimed, could represent the incorporation of Venezuela into US energy resources.
“If we add Venezuela, we will have 58% of the world’s fuel. Saving a glass of fuel like this is ridiculous,” Trump said before dropping the glass on the ground and spilling the water.
The president added that there are computers and systems to control fuel consumption, but maintained that these types of measures “did not work well.”
Trump has defended an increase in US energy production and He has pointed out on different occasions Venezuela’s oil reserves as a strategic resource.
The president was in Texas and Oklahoma on Thursday as part of the start of his campaign for the November legislative elections.
During an event at a Peterbilt truck plant in Denton, he endorsed Republican candidates and defended his economic and energy policies.
