Over the next two years, the disability advocate institution Tilioq will travel to all cities to hold courses and better equip the country’s caseworkers.
Deficient case management is year after year the biggest problem for people with disabilities. This is shown by Tilioq’s analyses, when the institution looks at the many citizen inquiries that go to the ombudsman institution every year.
Against this background, spokesman Qivioq Løvstrøm is pleased that the Ilimmarsaaneq project has now been fully approved and started.
The project is about ensuring that case handlers in each of the country’s five municipalities have the right knowledge and skills to be able to provide case processing that follows current legislation, is rights-based and will help each individual citizen as best as possible.
To do this, Tilioq has prepared a three-day course program, and the institution will travel to all the coastal cities over two years to teach the municipal employees, especially case workers, in this program, writes Tilioq in a press release.
Tilioq will also prioritize meeting with citizens, officials and other relevant stakeholders in order to target the teaching to each municipality and each city with the immediate challenges faced by local citizens with disabilities and their relatives.
The Ilimmarsaaneq project begins in Avannaata Kommunia and during April and May will go to Ilulissat, Uummannaq, Upernavik and Qaanaaq.
In May and June 2026, Tilioq will visit the towns of Aasiaat, Qeqertarsuaq, Qasigiannguit and Kangaatsiaq in the Municipality of Qeqertalik.
In 2027, this applies to the towns of Qeqqata Municipality, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq and Kujalleq Municipality.
