Catalonia (Spain), May 1, 2026 (SPS) – In the context of commemorating International Workers’ Day, this Friday, May 1, thousands of members of the Spanish trade unions, the most representative of the workers’ segment, organized a large demonstration and march in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, under slogans demanding respect for the rights of the workers’ category, improving working conditions and wages, as well as respecting working hours and ensuring that workers enjoy all their legitimate rights.

The Sahrawi issue had a remarkable presence in this workers’ march and demonstration, prepared by the Spanish Association for the Support of the Sahrawi People and the Polisario Front’s representation in the boycott, and through the presence and participation of a group of workers alongside the representative of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Salem Ahmed Labeid, and a group of the Catalan Solidarity Movement with the Just Struggle of the Sahrawi People.
Participants carried national flags, banners and slogans demanding respect for the rights of Sahrawi workers and the right of the Sahrawi people to freedom and independence, and condemning the systematic and illegal plunder of the natural resources of the Sahrawi people.
By the way, the representative of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Salem Ahmed Labeid, held several meetings with a number of trade unions participating in the demonstration, reviewing with them the aspects of solidarity with the Sahrawi cause, and informing them of the latest developments witnessed by the national cause.
