The emptying of the landfill in Kangaatsiaq must be tendered. This has been decided by the municipal council in Municipality Qeqertalik. The municipality cannot take on the task itself, says the committee chairman. The plan is for the landfill in Kangaatsiaq to be cleared in November.
The landfill in Kangaatsiaq is not a pretty sight. There are large amounts of both degradable and non-degradable waste to be seen. But if the citizens of Kangaatsiaq are tired of seeing the waste in the landfill, there is reason to be happy.
The municipal board of Municipality Qeqertalik agreed at its meeting on 11 June that the landfill in Kangaatsiaq must be emptied. The chairman of the committee, Inoqarfik, looks forward to how the task will be carried out and completed.
– Planning for the emptying of the landfill has begun. It is very exciting for us to see how this task will take shape, says Kristian Jeremiassen (IA) to Sermitsiaq.
The company Inuplan A/S, which works with consultancy and planning, must, as adviser to the municipality, put the task of emptying the landfill out to tender.
– At the start of the new task, we have to collaborate with professionals. From the municipality’s side, we have not previously tried to empty a landfill, which is why we have chosen to delegate the task, says Kristian Jeremiassen.
The company Inuplan A/S’ service to the municipality will cost DKK 137,500.
ESANI stands for transport
Waste management is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, but in many places the municipalities find it difficult to handle it themselves. Among other things, labor recruitment is a contributing factor.
The tasks at the dump in Kangaatsiaq are the responsibility of Kommune Qeqertalik. But the chairman acknowledges that the municipality alone cannot be responsible for emptying the dump. Therefore, Inuplan will now put the task of emptying the dump in Kangaatsiaq out to tender.
The plan is for the company responsible for emptying the dump to be found before the end of July, and for the emptying to be carried out from mid-August to the end of November.
And it is planned that the waste collected by the company that wins the tender will be picked up by the ship from the municipalities’ waste company, ESANI A/S.
– We have an agreement with ESANI that they must pick up the waste, says Kristian Jeremiassen.
It appears from the minutes of the politicians’ meeting that the company that submits the cheapest offer must carry out the task.
