The medal “For Military Merit”, which belonged to Alim Ishonov, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, was delivered to Tajikistan.
How reported the Ministry of Defense Tajikistan, the award was discovered in Russia and returned to its homeland with the assistance of the leadership of the Kaliningrad region and the Consulate General of Tajikistan in St. Petersburg.
The medal of a native of the republic, participant of the Second World War Alim Ishonov, born in 1923, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tatarstan in a solemn ceremony handed over the award to the grandson of the veteran.
The department noted that the return of the battle medal was a tribute to the heroic feat of a participant in the Great Patriotic War and is aimed at preserving historical memory.
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the exploits of veterans of the Great Patriotic War are an example of patriotism, courage and devotion to the Motherland, and preserving the memory of them remains the sacred duty of every citizen.
As of the beginning of May 2026, 8 veterans of the Great Patriotic War remained alive in Tajikistan.
