Tartous, May 2 (SANA) The “Watan” Festival opened Friday on Tartous’ seafront, bringing together cultural performances, shopping events and family attractions in a bid to support tourism and push local markets.
The event features handicraft bazaars, heritage exhibitions, company showcases and daily artistic performances, along with restaurants, cafés and dedicated family entertainment spaces. Children’s activities include an amusement park, educational events and a mini zoo.

Tartous City Council chairman Shadi Halimeh said the festival helps promote local economic activity by providing artisans and small businesses with a platform to showcase their products.
Event organizer Ahmed Nabhan said the festival was designed through cooperation between public and private sectors to offer visitors a diverse experience tailored to families and children.
Officials said safety measures include ambulances, firefighting equipment and a civil defense awareness pavilion.
The festival will run for 10 days from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., with organizers expecting large public turnout.
