President of the Tarish United Sports Club, James Jervier, described the late Egbert ‘Tom’ Lambert as a visionary sportsman and a person who believed in the power of football.
“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that the Tarish Pit United Sports Club extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. Egbert Lambert, affectionately known as ‘Tom’ of the Gutter Village,” Jervier said following Lambert’s recent death. “Tom was more than just a member of the community; he was a visonaire, a sportsman, a person who believed in the power of football to bring people together.
According to Jervier, as the founder of the Small Goal League, Lambert created an opportunity for young people as football lovers to come together, build friendships, share their talents and enjoy the beautiful game.
He said Tom’s passion, dedication and contribution to the Tarish Pit community have left a lasting mark.
“While words cannot fully express the sadness we feel at this time, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the sporting community here,” Jervier said.
He told Tom’s family and friends that they are not alone in their grief.
“The Tarish United Sports Club stands with you during this difficult time and shares in your sorrow,” he noted. “May the memories of Tom, his kindness, passion, laughter, and dedication bring comfort and strength to all who knew him and loved him.”
