Muscat: The Sultan’s Armed Forces Shooting Team achieved a series of outstanding results at the British Army Rifle Association and National Rifle Association shooting championships, currently being held at the Lydd and Hythe ranges in the United Kingdom through June 21, with the participation of international teams from several countries.
The Omani team secured five trophies in the British Army Rifle Association competitions and won two additional trophies, along with several first-place finishes, in the National Rifle Association events.
At the individual level, Warrant Officer Azzan bin Abdullah bin Nasser Al Abri of the Royal Guard of Oman was awarded the prestigious King’s Medal for Shooting in the international shooters category, one of the championship’s most distinguished awards.
First Lieutenant Saeed bin Salem Al Mishiqri of the Royal Oman Police claimed first place in the Re-Organisation of the Butts competition, while Sergeant Hamad bin Nasser Al Kiyoumi of the Royal Air Force of Oman secured first place in the Defence competition.
Lieutenant Colonel Staff Musallam bin Abdullah Al Subhi, Commander of the International Shooting Unit and Head of the Omani Delegation, said the results reflect the high level of preparation and training undertaken by the team’s shooters.
He noted that the championship featured strong competition among a number of British and international teams participating in the event.
